Rome Destination Wedding, Italy
EVA & JACk
October in Rome is a time when the city’s golden light softens the chill of autumn air, and history seems to hum a little louder.
It was in this evocative season that Eva and Jack, a couple with impeccable taste and an appetite for art, entrusted us to orchestrate their extraordinary wedding. As an experienced Italy wedding planner, this was an opportunity to create something truly personal and unforgettable. From their intimate welcome dinner to a grand finale of dancing and laughter, every detail reflected their shared passions, cultural heritage, and deep connection.
A Candlelit Prelude at The Hoxton
The weekend began with an intimate welcome dinner for 30 of Eva and Jack’s closest friends and family. We chose The Hoxton, an effortlessly chic space in Rome, to host this intimate gathering. The design was colour drenched in tonal greens— from the different textures of linen to the chunky glassware and ceramic bread plates. We decided on a bold move: no flowers. Instead, the table was bathed in the soft, flickering glow of countless candles, creating an atmosphere both modern and timeless.
A hint of surprise awaited each guest in the form of bespoke menu cards. Delicately illustrated with motifs of Bernini’s sculptures hinted at the post-dinner activity. Eva, an accomplished sculptor herself, wanted her guests to share her love of art. What better way than a private viewing at the Villa Borghese? For one unforgettable evening, the group had this treasure trove of Baroque and Renaissance masterpieces entirely to themselves. Without crowds or distractions, the exclusive experience was both serene and awe-inspiring—a perfect start to a Rome wedding weekend.
A Timeless Ceremony in the Heart of Rome
The wedding day began with a ceremony at Chiesa della Santissima Trinità dei Pellegrini, a stunning Catholic church tucked into Rome’s historic centre. Guests were greeted by two large floral installations, framing the entrance like a painter’s masterpiece and offering the perfect backdrop for photographs after the service.
Transportation played a starring role in the day’s events, blending vintage charm with playful elegance. The bridal party arrived in sweet vintage Volkswagen vans, while Eva and Jack made their exit in a classic blue-and-white Fiat 1100. The car, a nod to mid-century Italian style, perfectly complemented the flowers and added a whimsical touch to their procession through Rome’s cobbled streets.
While guests dispersed to explore nearby museums or enjoy a quick pisolino (a nap!), the couple returned to their suite at The St Regis for a private lunch. This quiet moment for just the two of them was a conscious decision, a chance to pause amidst the whirlwind of a Rome wedding. These small, intimate interludes are one of the elements we encourage every couple to include.
An Evening at The St Regis
As the afternoon waned, the day’s atmosphere transformed from solemnity to celebration. Eva, now in her second look—a Vivienne Westwood gown inspired by the flowing lines of ancient Greek statues—was ready to rejoin the festivities. The gown’s nod to her Greek heritage was subtle yet deeply meaningful, its draping reminiscent of classical sculptures while maintaining a thoroughly modern allure.
The Ritz Ballroom at The St Regis provided the setting for dinner and dancing. Long banquet tables surrounded a central dancefloor, ensuring that movement and joy remained at the heart of the evening. Inspired by Claude Monet, the tablescapes featured a palette of soft whites, creams, and tonal blues, punctuated with vibrant pops of orange. The result was an artistic yet inviting display that felt utterly bespoke.
Dinner was a celebration of Italian gastronomy, with a carefully curated five-course menu. Knowing that Eva and several guests were vegan, the hotel’s chefs created a full second menu that was equally indulgent. Every detail, from the presentation to the wine pairings, was a reminder of the culinary joys Italy offers.
As dinner drew to a close, we orchestrated a moment of theatrical delight: a Sabrage, the dramatic art of opening a bottle of champagne with a sabre. The spectacle drew gasps and applause, and with glasses freshly filled, Eva and Jack came forward to cut the cake.
Music to Unite
Music is often the unsung hero of a wedding, yet its ability to bridge cultures and generations is unparalleled. For Eva and Jack, whose families hailed from diverse corners of the globe, we sourced a DJ fluent in both international and Greek music. The evening’s soundtrack reflected the couple’s roots and their shared love of dance. From traditional Greek tunes to contemporary pop hits, the dancefloor never emptied.
Reflections on Planning a Wedding in Rome
As destination wedding planners, Rome offers us a wealth of opportunities to create something unique, but it also demands a deep understanding of logistics, local suppliers, and the city’s rhythm. Choosing the right Italy wedding venue is just the beginning. For Eva and Jack, every detail—from the private viewing at Villa Borghese to the vintage vehicles and Monet-inspired tablescapes—was a reflection of their personalities.
Planning a Rome wedding isn’t simply about the big gestures; it’s about weaving smaller, intentional moments into a seamless whole. The private lunch, the nods to Greek and Italian heritage, the candlelit dinners, and the bespoke menu cards are what made Eva and Jack’s wedding not just beautiful but meaningful.
The beauty of working as a wedding planner in Italy is the chance to tell each couple’s story through design, food, and atmosphere. Eva and Jack’s wedding was a celebration of love, art, and family in one of the most captivating cities in the world. Their Roman affair will undoubtedly remain etched in the memories of everyone who had the privilege to attend.
