Euridge Manor Destination Wedding, Cotswolds
MELODY & EUGENE
A Weekend Destination Wedding at Euridge Manor
As a destination wedding planner, the best part of my profession is transforming a couple's dream into a reality. Recently, I had the pleasure of planning a weekend wedding for Melody and Eugene, a charming couple from Canada who had just moved to the UK. They envisioned a quintessentially British wedding experience for their guests, and Euridge Manor in the Cotswolds was the perfect backdrop for this extraordinary event.
Day 1: The Welcome Dinner
Our weekend began with an elegant welcome dinner in the orangery, reserved for 30 of Melody and Eugene's closest friends and family who were staying on site. The theme was all white, evoking a sense of timeless sophistication. White linens, flowers, and even the guests adhered to the theme, dressed immaculately in white attire. To add a touch of glamour, we incorporated subtle hints of gold throughout the table settings. The bride, always one to surprise, opted for a stunning pink and green dress that made her stand out beautifully against the white palette.
In a delightful twist, since the couple had decided against having a traditional cake on their wedding day, they chose to cut a sticky toffee pudding during the welcome dinner. The spontaneous decision added a warm and personal touch to the evening, and the guests were utterly charmed by this quintessentially British dessert.
Day 2: The Wedding
The morning of the wedding dawned clear and bright, as if the Cotswolds themselves were blessing Melody and Eugene. The ceremony was set in the boathouse, an idyllic location overlooking serene waters. We crafted a confetti station where guests could personalise their own confetti mix, a whimsical touch that added a splash of colour and fun to the proceedings.
The ceremony was led by a close friend of the couple, infusing the moment with intimacy and personal significance. As the couple exchanged vows, the emotion in the air was palpable, a testament to the love and commitment Melody and Eugene share.
Following the ceremony, the drinks reception took place on the lawn with a stunning view of the boathouse. Guests were entertained by an interactive roaming band, whose lively performances were a huge hit. Music has a way of bringing people together, and the band’s dynamic presence ensured there was never a dull moment.
We ingeniously repurposed the ceremony area and its floral arrangements into an interactive escort card display. Guests enjoyed the engaging process of finding their cards, which led them to their designated tables named after streets Melody and Eugene had lived on throughout their lives. Dinner was served under the pergola, where organic and wild flowers in soft pinks adorned the tables. Modern white charger plates and cutlery provided a contemporary contrast to the romantic florals.
As the sun set, guests moved to the terrace for cocktails. The serene ambiance of the setting sun, coupled with the joy of the occasion, made for a magical evening. Melody, a devoted Taylor Swift fan, naturally chose one of Taylor’s songs for their first dance. The heartfelt moment captured the essence of their love story, delighting everyone present.
To keep the festivities going, we served late-night mac and cheese, a comforting treat that kept guests energised and satisfied. The blend of sophistication and homely charm was a fitting end to a perfect day.
Day 3: A Relaxed Farewell Brunch
The final day was a relaxed affair, with a late brunch set in the lush gardens of Euridge Manor. The flowers from the previous day were repurposed to create a familiar yet refreshed atmosphere. The dress code was cottage core, adding a whimsical, pastoral charm to the brunch.
Guests mingled in the serene garden setting, reminiscing about the weekend’s events. The brunch provided a wonderful opportunity for everyone to unwind, share stories, and enjoy the beautiful surroundings before heading back to their everyday lives.
Reflecting back on a Quintessentially British Weekend
Melody and Eugene's wedding at Euridge Manor was a testament to the beauty and charm of quintessentially British weddings. The venue, with its historic manor house and picturesque landscapes, offered an exclusive setting that was perfect for their international guests. Euridge Manor’s popularity with international clients is well-deserved, as it effortlessly captures the essence of British elegance and charm.
Planning this weekend wedding was an absolute joy. Melody and Eugene’s vision was clear from the start: they wanted a celebration that was intimate, personal, and quintessentially British. Through meticulous planning and a touch of spontaneity, we created a weekend that was not only memorable but also deeply meaningful for the couple and their guests.
As a destination wedding planner, it’s moments like these that remind me why I love what I do. Bringing together a couple’s dreams, the charm of a historic venue, and the joy of their loved ones into one harmonious celebration is a privilege. Melody and Eugene’s wedding was a beautiful reminder that love, laughter, and a touch of British flair can create a truly unforgettable experience.
